Thomas Aquinas was an influential 13th-century Italian Dominican friar, Catholic priest, and theologian. He is best known for his masterwork Summa Theologica, which synthesized Christian theology with Aristotelian philosophy and became a cornerstone of Catholic doctrine. Aquinas made major contributions to metaphysics, ethics, and natural theology, and is regarded as one of the most important Christian philosophers and theologians in history.
